Taking a stab at realistic drawing: Kindergarten
Sometimes, as teachers, we are reluctant to embark on a project with outcomes that are unknown. How will the session go? Do we have something else to work with, should the session go awry with lots of time left to fill?
I hung a clothes line in kindergarten with assorted pants, sweaters and tops and asked the kids to draw the clothes on the line, and then to use some color. What amazing results!
I mainly attribute the success of this session to the kids' surprise at the clothesline hanging in the classroom. What?
This quirky surprise resulted in close looking, a long attention span, and the students' desire to finish without my having to say much.
